Ryan Lucia is the VP of Business Development for Voyage Financial Group. With over a decade of marketing, sales, and management experience – with top multinational logistics, supply chain and transportation firm, DHL Express and K-12 online education innovator, WebLessons.com – his knowledge and expertise have been honed through interaction and development within the organizations and with clients such as Weyerhauser, Safeco Insurance, Paccar Financial, AT&T Wireless, Zale Corp, Cutter & Buck and many school districts around the country. To illustrate, Lucia’s more comprehensive experience arises from his responsibilities as a National Account Manager and in managing and growing DHL’s relationship with Safeco Insurance by developing a marketing alliance program that added the potential for 23,000 additional customers and near doubling the business to over $4 million annually. Said business was highly profitable target business from smaller customers that generated far more margin.
When in 2003 DHL Express acquired Airborne Express, Lucia was elevated to District Sales Manager of Louisiana, Mississippi and Northeastern Texas. Lucia, along with his team, grew DHL’s book of business by 10% in 2004 and by 17% in 2005 prior to Hurricane Katrina. He also developed the “DHL King Cake Program” in an effort to capture a piece of the $3.2 MM per year business from the top 6 bakeries in New Orleans. He and his team brought on 4 of the bakeries, but 3 were lost completely during the hurricane. Lucia, his team and DHL devised a recovery, marketing and press program to drive the business of Randazzo’s Camellia City Bakery for the 2006 King Cake Season. This effort garnered local and national media attention and placement. Randazzo’s believes that this effort helped them triple the business they expected during that season. These efforts were recognized and awarded at DHL’s National Sales meeting with one of Lucia’s team members earning Sales Rep of the Year honors because of his involvement and dedication.
When Lucia was transferred to Plano, Texas after Hurricane Katrina, he led his team to triple digit international import growth, 4th in the nation of 130 districts. He also developed a marketing alliance program with Encore Payment systems that added approximately 20 customers per month all in the small business sector, DHL’s most profitable business sector.
While with WebLessons, Lucia led projects to grow the business within the Homeschool market and trained and developed administrators and teachers around the country in not only using the WebLessons product, but in educating students in their native technologies. He also led many marketing and development initiatives to drive the company in new directions and to new levels of growth.
Lucia has consulted with many businesses across many sectors while with DHL. He acquired his BA and political science degree from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. He is also a professional musician and a lover of cooking and food.
